Pete – Bass

Pete MacCourt is a competent, reliable and versatile bass player. He developed an insatiable appetite for music at an early age. After learning clarinet for a few years, he decided it wasn’t for him and started learning bass guitar (encouraged by his brother who was learning electric guitar). At the age of 13 armed with a 2nd hand bass, he formed a band with friends, after less than two weeks they performed in the school’s Battle of the Bands. The thrill of performance and the camaraderie of a band ignited a passion for music unrivaled to this day.

In 2005 after finishing school, Pete took up study at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. Through enthusiasm, hard work and natural ability he has excelled and developed not only his musical abilities but also a professional attitude and working ethic over almost 4 years of study. Currently in the final year of a BA in Professional Musicianship he has been involved in numerous bands and projects.

Most notably in 2009 he joined “The Click” the live backing band for a promising soul quartet “The Flirtelles”. During his time at BIMM he has come face to face with influential figures such as Mark Knopfler, Lemmy, Nathan Watts and even Stevie Wonder!

Pete prides himself on being a disciplined, reliable and professional bass player. Easy to work with, easy to get on with and open to all kinds of music, demand for his abilities is growing rapidly.
